N.B.
Each one of the following instructions given below
is very important. Candidates are advised to go through
them carefully. A few instructions may get modified in
due course. Candidates should visit this link
periodically to keep themselves abreast of changes, if
any. Candidates shall be solely responsible for any
hardship caused to them or losses sustained by them
owing to their action of not reading the instructions
properly or not keeping themselves abreast of changes,
if any. |
1. |
From 2014 onwards, IMU has
switched over to Online Counselling so
that the candidates need not come to Chennai physically
for the Counselling which, in the past, had caused
considerable hardship. |

5. |
Candidates
will be required to choose online, the Programme(s) and
the IMU Campus(es) that they would like to
join. |
6. |
A
candidate must first pay a Counselling
Fee of
Rs.10,000/- (non-refundable)
to IMU - through the Online mode (Net Banking,
Credit Card, Debit Card) only - before he can
choose his Programmes / Campuses online. Candidates who
have paid the Counselling Fee are exempted
from paying the Admission Registration Fee
of Rs.10,000/- at the time of
admission. |
7. |
In
Online Counselling, the allotment of candidates to a
Programme / Campus will be done automatically based on
(i) rank in the CET, (ii) Category, (iii) choices of
Programmes and Campuses, and (iv) the availability of
seats. The First List of allotments
will be published only after the last date for Online
Counselling is over. |
8. |
The
candidate will be issued a 'Provisional
Allotment Letter' indicating the Programme and
Campus he has been
allotted. |
9. |
A
candidate issued with the 'Provisional Allotment Letter'
will be required to pay the Programme
Fee of Rs.25,000/-
(non-refundable) through Online
mode before the prescribed date mentioned
in the Provisional Allotment Letter in order to signify
his acceptance. If the Programme Fee is not paid
before the prescribed time limit, then the
candidate shall be deemed to be a 'drop out' and he
shall forgo his seat allotment and forfeit the
Counselling Fee. That is, his allotment will be
cancelled and he cannot lay any claim over the seat at a
later date. |
10. |
Once the
Programme Fee of Rs.25,000/- is paid online, the
candidate will be informed about the date on which he
should report before the Director of the Campus he is
allotted to for (i) verification of original
documents, (ii) confirmation of medical fitness and
(iii) payment of the first Semester Fees in
full. This is likely to be around 25.07.2016
i.e. about a week before the commencement of the
Academic Year 2016-17 on 01.08.2016. Only after these
formalities are completed, the Provisional Allotment
will be "Confirmed". |
11. |
If,
after his admission is confirmed, a candidate withdraws
from the allotted Campus / Programme for any reason,
then he shall forfeit not only the Counselling Fee and
the Programme Fee but also the first Semester Fees
already paid. He shall not be entitled to any refund
under any circumstances. |
12. |
IMU will
draw up a Second List of selected
candidates in place of the 'dropouts' vide para 9 above,
i.e. those who failed to pay the Programme Fee of
Rs.25,000/- within the prescribed time limit. In the
Second List, some of the candidates may get upgraded
i.e. they may get a Programme or Campus or both (as
per their order of preference) which they could not get
in the First List. |
13. |
Candidates
should note that unless they
register for Online Counselling
with multiple options, they may lose out on their
chances of upgradation in the Second
List. |
14. |
A
candidate who has already paid the Programme Fee of
Rs.25,000/- vide para 9 above will not be required to
pay it again if he is selected for a different IMU
Campus / Programme in the Second List. However, if a
candidate who has already paid the Programme Fee of
Rs.25,000/- vide para 9 above opts to join an Affiliated
Institute, the amount shall not be transferable and he
shall forgo the same. |
15. |
Not
withstanding what is stated above, if for any reason all
the seats in IMU Campuses are not filled up, IMU
reserves the right to hold another round of Online
Counselling for the residuary seats for
the benefit of candidates who may not have applied
earlier. However, such late applicants cannot lay any
claim to seats in better Programmes / Campuses at this
stage even if their ranks are higher than those who have
already been allotted the seats through (the first)
Online Counselling because they are deemed to have
forgone their claims by their conduct of not applying
for Online Counselling in time and they shall be
considered for the residuary seats
only. |
16. |
IMU
reserves the right not to allot candidates to any
Programme in any of its Campuses if sufficient number of
candidates are not forthcoming to make the running of
the Programme in that Campus a viable proposition or for
any other administrative / academic
reason. |
17. |
The
decisions of IMU in respect of Counselling and
Admissions shall be final. |
18. |
Legal
disputes, if any, pertaining to Counselling and
Admission matters shall fall within the jurisdiction of
Chennai Courts
only. |
